Organization Overview - Paws With A Cause® is a national organization headquartered just outside Grand Rapids, Michigan. PAWS® raises and trains Assistance Dogs for clients with disabilities. Each dog's training program is customized to accommodate the unique needs of individuals with various types of disabilities.

Summary – The person in this position is responsible for maintaining the dogs and cats on behalf of PAWS in a clean and healthy manner by bathing, grooming, trimming, teeth cleaning, and ear cleaning.
Supervisory Responsibilities – This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have a working knowledge and proficiency in Word Processing software (Word), Email Communication Programs (Outlook/Office 365), Spreadsheets (Excel), Power Point, CRM, and any other data collection software preferred. The ability to understand and utilize the various computer programs is needed to produce reports, letters, etc. that are required to perform the job.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to anticipate problems and issues; Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret statistical data.
Education and/or Experience
High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. Possessing a minimum of three years’ experience as a professional groomer and or a certificate of completion from an accredited grooming school, or an equivalent of combined experience with a certificate.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Certificate from a professional dog grooming school or equivalent of several years of professional dog grooming experience.
Must have a current driver's license, and the points must not exceed the allotted amount to be covered under PAWS vehicle insurance. Must have reliable transportation.

Physical mobility is required in this position including walking, squatting, stooping, bending, standing, reaching, lifting, moving, pulling, and jerking dogs weighing up to 100lbs. Manual dexterity is required in this position including washing, drying, handling, lifting, and moving dogs weighing up to 100 lbs; operating implements and equipment and other movements with hands in the course of this position.
Allocation of Time
Bathing dogs – 50%
Drying dogs – 15%
Nail trimming – 5%
Teeth cleaning – 5%
Ear cleaning – 5%
Brushing/Combing dogs - 5%
Walking/Exercising dogs – 5%
Janitorial – 10%

Hours of Work
This is a full-time hourly position with base hours of 40 hours per week, normally scheduling working days are Monday through Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm. Overtime only permitted with prior approval from the Supervisor; overtime would be calculated at one and a half times the regular rate of pay for any hours worked over 40. Some weekend work may be needed from time to time to accomplish the essential job functions of this position. Advance notice will be given if weekend work is ever requested.
